Ashcroft and Crouch

Apparently Attorney General John Ashcroft attended the same church as televangelist Paul Crouch in Springfield, Missouri which was the Assembly of God.
The Assembly of God believes in many things one of which is divine healing – to which all believers are entitled. Simply put – nothing can happen that can’t be put right.
Paul Crouch has taken these ideals and stretched them. He calls it "God's economy of giving."
People who donate to Crouch's Trinity Broadcasting Network will prosper. The more money you give to TBN the more money God will give you.
President Bush must be listening close to this message as Crouch said on the air "He'll give you thousands, hundreds of thousands. He'll give millions and billions of dollars." All you have to do is give.
If you are broke you give anyway and God will repay you.
George Bush is bankrupting our nation. He has provided a tax refund to a lot of Americans even though the government could not afford it. He apparently expects this money to come back ten, thirty, fifty or a hundred-fold.
Another example – Mr. Bush admits that the government can’t afford to pay for his monstrous spending increases and yet he continues to throw money at churches and badly thought out invasion schemes.
It is as if he is hoping that God will return his tithes to him.
The problem is that this is no sort of way to operate the government, run a business or even lead a church.
Mr. Bush keeps a non-productive ranch in the middle of the Texas desert – not unlike Mr. Crouch who also keeps a TBN-owned jet and 30 homes across the country, among them a pair of Newport Beach mansions and a ranch in Texas. The prosperity gospel is rooted in the idea that God wants Christians to prosper and that Christians have the right to ask him for financial gifts.
Mr. Bush seems to think that God wants Christians to run the world and that he has a right to ask God for political gifts.
Bush said in his acceptance speech : “I believe in the transformational power of liberty. The wisest use of American strength is to advance freedom.”
‘Transformational Discipleship’ directs our attention to Romans, 2:12, ‘And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’
I think the message that we are getting from the President is : Give generously to the Federal Government, so that, in time, you too shall reap that bounty of the Lord God in form of a tax refund in line with your own sacrifice.
The Campus Crusade of Christ – with offices at Texas A&M Campus on George Bush Drive in College Campus tells us that : “God is raising up a network of locally-led Military Ministry-coached Campus Crusade for Christ ministries on military installations and ships across the world. The Military Ministry is working to help leaders like you build movements that will transform their installations or ship to "Reach the World through the Military of the World".”
There is an evil stirring that has known no other age.
