Tommy Gone 2

Tommy Thompson is sounding the alarm about food safety.
He states that most of the food imported into the United States is not tested and that terrorists may be able to poison it and kill Americans.
What he didn’t say is that most of the food brought into the United States from third world countries is poisoned already.
DDT is still used extensively in Mexico and throughout South America.
The farmers there - especially the larger, mechanized farms, still rely on fungicides that contain heavy doses of mercury.
All of this material is still on the food - and even inside it.
This has happened because NAFTA has been allowed to become more important to the present Administration than the health and well being of our children.
The food is cheaper from Mexico and South America for several reasons. They pay their farmhands slave wages. In Venezuela there have been instances of men being shot to death for trying to take a few bananas home to their starving families. Bananas bound for the supermarket shelves in the United States.
Children are born with deformities throughout Mexico and South America due to the pesticides, fungicides and herbicides in use there. These chemicals have been outlawed in the United States - but many American, German and Japanese companies still make them and sell them to third world countries.
In the end - the poison returns. The mess comes home to the United States - at the supermarket - two for a dollar.
