Faith Liaisons

The Founders of this nation separated Church and State.
In the European countries it was difficult to tell one from the other.
Separating the government from religion is a great good.
By bringing them together as Bush is doing is the root of serious problems.
Already he has installed ‘Church Spies’ in nearly every state governor’s office, the USDA and the FBI. They are called ‘Faith Based Liaisons’.

This is an illegal intrusion by the President into the daily workings of each State Government and even the Federal Offices over which he does not and should not directly oversee.
We see one ugly result in Senator Frist and his parade of preachers for judicial nominees.
There is another unseemly result of this obsession with religion and that is the question of who will choose what religion to run the government? Religions have sects. Many of the more bizarre sects are represented in Bush’s Cabinet.
Does that make Bush the Protestant Pope as well as the President? Is he President Pope Junior for the Catholics? Is he to bear the helmet of Muslim Imam? Is he Rabbi Bush or George the Monk?
The worst part of encouraging evangelical behavior through public office is that it spills into other religions.
I recently met an evangelical witch.
The worst thing is that all of this interest in religion in government seems to be merely for the advantage of Bush and his cronies to cripple our republic and our democratic form of government.
